Hello! I'm Ainsley, the 2024 Milverton Agricultural Society Ambassador, and I'm excited to represent Milverton this year!

My journey started at the 2024 Fall Expo, where I competed for the Ambassador title alongside two other contestants and the Junior Ambassador participants. It was a great opportunity to practice public speaking and interviewing skills, which I look forward to improving these skills further this year!

Over the next few weeks, I enjoyed supporting District 8 Ambassadors at their fairs and competitions, I also attended the District 8 meeting, where we had the chance to connect even further. I look forward to spending more time with these Ambassadors throughout the year.

At the Buckaroo Ball in November, we worked on our public speaking skills and had fun dancing with Woody and Jessie. I also got to practice line dancing and learn some square dancing!

The year ended with the Milverton Santa Claus Parade of Lights, a nostalgic moment for me as I remembered riding in the fire truck with my dad during past parades as a kid. This year was full of smiles, waves, and holiday cheer.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for events like the OAAS Convention in February, District Competition in May, and CNE in August. These will be great opportunities to grow my skills and get more involved in my community, especially in promoting agriculture.

In my experience so far, I have learnt so much about how agricultural societies work and their importance to communities, like Milverton’s.

To anyone considering the Ambassador role in the future: just be yourself and smile—authenticity goes a long way!
Looking forward to an amazing year ahead!

Sincerely,

Ambassador Ainsley

My experience competing was both exciting and nerve racking, but in the end, I made some really amazing memories. I got to watch my fellow competitors compete, cheer them on, and watch them overcome their fears. I was able to watch the senior competitors also. I got to take in some great learning experiences, like learning how to speak on stage, make eye contact while doing my speech and walking confidently.

The parade of lights was so fun. I enjoyed seeing the community and spending the night with the Ambassador, the sweetheart and little mister. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful floats and it was a great experience.

My favourite part of being the Junior Ambassador for the Milverton Agricultural Society is doing all the events for the community. I’ve been going into the school to talk to the kids and promote our events.

One of my favourite experiences was participating in line dancing. It is so much fun, even though I think I might need more practice! Overall, it was a great experience and I will keep on trying.

At the Fall Expo I competed for Junior Ambassador, and I entered things into the fair. I entered my chocolate chip cookies, lots of photography and some arts and crafts. It was fun to not only see if I won, but also everyone else’s entries.

One piece of advice I would give to somebody running for Junior Ambassador is to be confident. Trust me, I know that it is nervous speaking in front of people. The key is to not focus on the people in the audience. Pick two or three spots on the wall behind the crowd, and be confident while changing which spot you’re looking at. As soon as you start saying your speech or your impromptu question, you’ll feel so much more at ease and confident.

Sincerely,

Junior Ambassador Izzy

It was cool competing for Sweetheart of the Fair in front of so many people. Hearing my name get called felt amazing!

It was really fun learning the new dances and making crafts at the Buckaroo Ball. I also found out that I love public speaking!

My favourite part of being royalty was the Christmas parade. It was really fun getting to be a part of it!

A lesson I learned was that you should always believe that you can do it!

A piece of advice that I would tell someone who wants to compete for Sweetheart of the Fair is: you can absolutely do it and just be yourself!

Sincerely,

Sweetheart of the Fair Evelyn

Little Mister

Chester

My favourite part of the Buckaroo Ball was saying my speech and dancing to the fun music! Limbo was fun too!

The Family Fun Fair is the best event ever! All the activities are so fun and the tractor pull is awesome! I loved everything about being Little Mister!

If I could give anyone one piece of advice it would be to practice your speech to make a good impression. And don't forget to smile!

Sincerely,

Little Mister of the Fair Chester
